The verb kuwa means 'to be' or 'to become.'
In the present tense, the verb 'to be' is simply represented by 'ni'.
- Mimi ni Saida [I am Saida.]
- Wewe ni mwanafunzi is [You are a student.]

The Verb kuwa and Tenses
