Halima:      Asante sana kwa kunileta hapa. Shamba lenu lina rutuba. [Thank you so much for bringing me here. Your farmland is very fertile.]

Jelimo:       Karibu sana Halima. Nitaanza kwa kukupeleka pale ambapo nimepanda aina tofauti ya matunda. [I will start by taking you to a place where I have planted different types of fruits]

Halima:      Napenda maembe sana. Natumai umeyapanda shambani. [I love mangoes so much. I hope you have grown them in your farmland.]

Jelimo:       Nimeyapanda. Nina miembe ishirini na mitano. [I have grown them. I have twenty-five mango trees.]

Halima:      Ndiyo ile pale? [Are those the ones?]

Jelimo:       Ndiyo, twende tuone kama yameiva. [Yes, let’s go see if they are ripe.]

Pia kuna mipera, migomba, mipaipai, minazi, michungwa. Vilevile kuna miche ya matunda hayo yote. Yamepandwa pale karibu na banda la ng’ombe. [Also, there are guava trees, pawpaw trees, coconut trees, orange trees. There are also seedlings for all the plants. They have been grown near the cowshed.]

Halima:      Nafurahia sana kuwa hapa. Mipera ni jina la miti inayozaa mapera. Mipaipai inazaa matunda gani? [I am so happy to be here. Guava trees are trees that produce guavas, which fruits do pawpaw trees produce?]

Jelimo:       Mipaipai inazaa mapaipai, michungwa inazaa machungwa, minazi inazaa nazi, migomba nayo inazaa ndizi. Na matunda yote huchumwa na kuliwa yanapoiva. [Pawpaw trees produce pawpaws, coconut trees produce coconuts and banana trees produce bananas. All fruits are usually harvested and eaten when ripe.]

Halima:      Nimejifunza mengi sana leo. [I have learnt so much today.]

Jelimo:       Tuendelee. Pale nimepanda mboga za aina tofauti. Kuna kabeji, Sukuma wiki na mchicha. [Let’s continue. Over there I have grown different vegetables. There is cabbage and kale.]

Halima:      Una bidi kweli. Naona pia una nyanya, vitunguu, bilinganya, malenge na pilipili mboga. Tunaweza kuchuma tukatumie kupika chakula cha mchana? Nimehisi njaa sana. [You are very hardworking. I can see you also have tomatoes, onions, eggplants, pumpkins and capsicum.] Can we harvest some we go use them to prepare lunch? I am very hungry.]

Jelimo:        Haya twende. Baadaye nitakupeleka kuona wanyama. [Okay let us go. Later, I will take you to see the animals.]
